How to wear

Every TERRUVO headpiece sits on one of three bases. Each product page tells you which one, and the weight of the piece.

Headband

Our larger pieces (over about 35 g) sit on a thin satin-covered headband, because a band spreads the weight across the head.

1. Hold the headband open and slide it on from behind the ears, so the band runs just behind them and disappears into your hair.
2. Turn it until the piece sits on the right side of your head, just above the temple.
3. Tilt it slightly forward, towards your eyebrow. A slight angle looks intentional; straight upright can look stiff.
4. With short or fine hair, cross two hair pins over the band on each side.

Hair comb

Medium pieces come on a clear comb, which disappears into the hair.

1. Choose the spot above your right ear, a little towards the back.
2. Hold the comb with the teeth pointing back, slide it flat along your scalp against the direction of the hair, then turn it and push it in.
3. For fine or very smooth hair, backcomb a small section first, or pin across the comb with two crossed hair pins.

Hair clip

Our smallest pieces sit on an alligator clip.

1. Take a section of hair about two fingers wide, above the ear or at the side of a low bun.
2. Clip the piece on close to the scalp and press until the clip closes.

Which side?

By tradition, headpieces are worn on the right side of the head. What matters more is your parting: wear it on the side opposite your parting, or on the side you will be photographed from. At a wedding, check that the piece does not block the view of the guests behind you in church.

Hair styles that work

• Low bun or chignon: the classic. Headpieces sit above the bun on the same side.
• Sleek ponytail: pieces on combs or clips sit at the base of the ponytail or above the ear.
• Hair down: headbands work best; the band hides under the hair.
• Short hair: headbands, secured with crossed pins.

Looking after acrylic

• Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not use alcohol, glass cleaner or solvents; they can cloud or crack acrylic.
• Keep pieces in their box, away from direct sunlight, radiators and hot cars.
• If a wire has moved, bend it back gently with your fingers; do not use pliers on the acrylic.
• Acrylic can crack if it is dropped on a hard floor. Do not wear a cracked piece.
